Pushkar India Tour

Pushkar most widely known as the sister city of Ajmer is a small hamlet in Rajasthan which is one of the dominant pilgrims in India. It lies at 14km to the north west of Ajmer and set itself amidst the rugged Aravalli valleys central Rajasthan at the foot of Nag Parvat which proves to be a natural fringe between Pushkar and Ajmer. This sacred town has been given the name 'Pushkar' because Pushkar in Sanskrit literally means a blue lotus flower, and this place also has a legend behind somewhat related to a flower. According to Hindu mythology the Pushkar Lake is formed by a lotus flower, a divine flower which was dropped by Lord Brahma on earth to figure out a place for performing his 'yagna'.

This sister city of Ajmer comes under the five divine Dhams- the most sacred pilgrimage for Hindus in India and referred as the Tirth raj- the king of pilgrimages. It is believed that this place is blessed by Lord Brahma. It is the only place in the whole world where there is temple purely dedicated to lord Brahma- the creator of the universe according to Hindu mythology known as the Brahma Temple. This Brahma temple was constructed in 14 century AD which proves to be an oldest temple here. Facing the sanctorum there is a silver turtle that sits on the floor and around which lays hundreds of unique silver coins having the donor's name carved in it. This fascinating temple lies besides the Nag Parvat and Anasagar Lake. Apart from this ancient and unique temple Pushkar accommodates some other magnificent temples including the ones which were destroyed by the Muslims in order to conquest this area.

This ancient city has been located at the banks of the Pushkar Lake that is the most famous and sacred place In Rajasthan which offers salvation through its holy water. It is fringed with 52 fascinating Ghats accommodating a mesmerizing view. The Pushkar Lake also comprises a Pushkar lake palace flanked by open field and hills proving to be yet another attraction to this Pushkar city.

Pushkar the sacred city is globally famed for its annual Pushkar fair celebrated in 'Kartik Mas' according to Hindu calendar which falls on November, the celebrations starts from the 8th day of lunar calendar and concludes till the full moon day. The Pushkar fair is the largest camel fair in Asia and is one of its kinds. A myriad of people come to witness and participate in this fair from all over the globe. During this fair this low spirited hamlet comes alive vibrantly with all the celebrations and excitements. The fair is famous for the trades of live stocks mainly camel. Beautifully adorned camels are the most frequented scene during this fair. People are dressed with dynamic bright attires enjoying and participating in various events such as acrobats, magic and comedy shows, puppet shows, folk dance and music performances etc. special events for camels are organized too.
