Orchha is a small destination but holds a plethora of destinations showcasing its grandeur and hidden treasure. Orchha is a quaint and sleepy town in Madhya Pradesh, which is set on the edge of river Betwa beside the Malwa plateau. Orchha came into being in the 16th century at Tikamgarh district that is located about 18 km from the city of Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh by Rudra Pratap Singh who was the Bundela chief of that time and liked this stretch land along the Betwa river which was fringed by verdant hills and greenery all around, therefore the place was once been the capital of Bundela dynasty. And this feature of Betwa River is what serves as the prime attraction of the place apart from the original glory of massive forts, fascinatingly build palaces, regal chhatris, spectacular temples, beautifully laid out gardens.

tour to orcha Hamir Singh ruled this place during 1848 to 1874 after which maharaja Pratap Singh succeeded the throne in 1874. He was the one who committed himself to the development and growth of this place. He himself executed and designed most of the irrigation and engineering works during his reign. The splendor of such structures having architectural brilliance made this place among the most distinct tourist destinations.

The name Orchha has been derived from Urccha which precisely means the hidden place as this place is not much explored and it also contributes a very small population of 8499 people with predominantly males. The Jahangir Mahal contributed the most to make this place more popular by its grandeur and charm. It has been constructed in tiers, during early 17th century by Bir Singh Deo; with fascinatingly constructed umbrella like structures on the top it also accommodates delicate work and alluring masonry. The top of the palace comprises most spectacular view of the fascinating temples and other dominant structures proving to be the landmark of the place. Raj Mahal is another significant place built by Madhukar Shah which proves to be a perfectly fine example of Mughal architecture which is embellished beautifully with crowned chhatris- cenotaphs, carved stone Jali work, exquisite murals and painted walls depicting religious themes in the exterior. It was Madhukar Shah who built the monuments in the fort complex. The Rai Parveen Mahal widely recognized for it's beautifully laid out gardens and the place is wholly devoted to the 17th-century poetess-musician. All these magnificently constructed palaces are located in one single place most widely known as the Orchha fort which was constructed by Rudra Pratap on an edge of river Betwa. It comprises many such palaces with a four-arched bridge that guides along the fort complex.

Apart from homing this magnificently built and well laid out Orchha fort comprising fascinating structures this small town has some spectacularly mesmerizing temples and some other significantly beautiful places that are widely known in the whole of Madhya Pradesh. Laxminarayan Temple, Chaturbhuja Temple, Ram Raja Temple Shahid Smarak, Sunder Mahal, Dimnan Hardaul's Palace, Kanchan Ghat comprising charmingly beautiful cenotaphs, Phool Bagh, are some of the dominant places of Orchha which adds on more charm to the grandeur to the place making it more recognizable.
