Jim Corbett national park was originally named as Hailey national park and was founded in 1936 which was changed later to Jim Corbett national park to honour the astonishing hunter which later turned into a conservationist 'Jim Corbett' who was greatly admired by the locals because he saved many lives by shooting wild tigers that had developed a hunger for human flesh and blood. Corbett is located at Himalayan foothills with over flowing Ramganga River by the side in Nainital district Uttrakhand providing a charming location which adds on the beauty of the wildlife. It's the first national park in India which contains 512.8 km area of hills, coastal belts, grass lands with peaceful lakes and overflowing streams and wildlife reserve extending over an area of more than 500 sq km.

Jim Corbett national park is an ideal destination for having thrilling fun and adventure, this majestic place is a paradise for nature and wild life lovers providing rich bio diversity. Elephant safari, canter safari, jeep safari, fishing and angling are some of the activities to enjoy in this park. It also comprises various safari zones like Bijrani Safari Zone, Dhikala Safari Zone, Durga Devi Safari Zone, Jhirna Safari Zone which is a must visit while exploring this amazing wildlife reserve. Corbett is a delight for bird lovers too, ever since the Kalagarah dam has been constructed on the Ramgana River, it attracts numerous waterfowls.

One can find numerous wild life animals and birds in their natural habitat, including more than 600 birds, 50 mammals, 25 species of reptiles and much more. Corbett is famous for its tiger reserve and elephants too. Herd Wild elephants, langoors- monkey species having black face and long tail, rhesus macaque, peacock, various species of deer like chital, sambars, hog deer and barking deer etc., monitor lizard, some weird looking gavial, crocodiles, wild boars and jackals are some animals and reptiles that can easily be spotted while exploring this world class national park where as leopards or panthers are not easily spotted as they come out occasionally. The place is also known for the forest of Sal, Shisham, Laldu, Chir etc.

Corbett National Park is one of India's most exotic wildlife reserves having a tiger population of around 160, which makes this park the most significant. It is the world famous reserve that is providing a home to this endangered species in India. Corbett Park's 1318.54 square kilometers of lush green virgin forest accommodates the best of Indian flora and fauna.

Jim Corbett national park welcomes its visitors throughout the year but still its best to visit this place during mid November to mid June.
