Bandhavgarh

Bandhavgarh famed for its wildlife and eco tourism is a region amidst the Satpura and Vindhya ranges which is placed in a small district located in the north eastern border of Madhya Pradesh named Umaria.

It is a historic place which consists of two main attractions to offer to its visitors. One is the Bandhavgarh fort which is a significant place having some mythological tales behind, one of which is that lord ram has been stayed here for a short period after winning the battle against Ravana, this fort was built for lord Rama by monkeys which was named as Bandhavgarh fort meaning brother's fort. And the other is Bandhavgarh national park internationally famed for its royal Bengal tigers and white tiger is spread along the Vindhya ranges. It got the title of a national park when the Maharaja of Rewa under which this land was governed, handed it over to the central government for its formation as a national park in 1968. It hasn't had a good flora and fauna at that time but once accomplished as a protected area, the place started flourishing and enriched with fascinating animal population and world class flora. The entire area was 106 sq kms then but in 1982 it was extended to northern and southern areas, and presently it consists of 448 sq kms of the area. Later in 1993 this park was declared as a tiger reserve under the 'Project Tiger'. This national park has the highest population having 42 to 52 tigers which can easily be spotted while exploring the park.

Golden Triangle India, It is one of the most frequented national parks among tourists and consists of evergreen and lush Sal forests with bamboo trees which are to be found in the entire park. The place accommodates some of the best wildlife of the country. Apart from Bengal tigers it is a home to some other significant wild animals like sambar, porcupine, chital, nilgai, chinkara, barking deer, spotted deer, sloth beers, wild boar and much more, among these leopards are the favorites. Beyond the fascinating wildlife, Bandhavgarh national park acquires around 150 most beautiful bird species apart from migratory birds which proves to be a heaven for bird lovers. Egyptian vulture, white eyed buzzard, Steppe eagle, teal, sarus crane, black ibis, kingfishers are some of the most prominent birds found in this park.

Bandhavgarh national park accommodates the most scintillating wild life and some exciting activities including elephant safari and jeep safari to enjoy this wildlife and exploring the wide national park by comfort and convenience. It is the best place for adventure lovers, apart from exploring the wild life trekking can also be done through the natural trails of this highly preserved national park.

The best season to explore this national park and spot wildlife at its best is November to June during which the weather is favorable too. It is advisable to not to visit during July 1 to September 30 as the park remains close amid this time span.
